Little Medical School

Students will explore the roles of an athletic trainer and orthopedic surgeon and learn how to diagnose and treat common sports injuries such as sprains, strains, and athlete’s foot. These future healthcare professionals will explore the famous Tommy John (arm & elbow) surgery and make models of a hand, joint, and tendon.

After “adopting” their own plush baby, students will role-play the key responsibilities of a pediatrician and learn how to perform a head-to-toe exam on a newborn. These future pediatricians will learn about diapering, diaper rash, bottling, burping, the infant Heimlich maneuver, childhood immunizations, and safe sleeping.

After “adopting” their very own plush puppy, students will role play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian, including how to properly perform a nose-to-tail exam. These future veterinarians will learn how to sew stitches, remove ticks, make healthy treats, and vaccinate their dog.

Students will conduct experiments on fingerprinting, collecting shoe prints, chromatography, composite drawing, facial reconstruction, toxicology, and handwriting analysis. The class culminates in the forensic student team working together to solve a crime.

This course is an advanced Little Doctor School for middle school students. Participants will learn about the human heart, skin, blood, digestion, disease, surgery techniques, how to read an EKG, and much more!

Little Doctor School Summer Camp Inspired learning today - healthy futures tomorrow! Camp participants will role-play the key responsibilities of a doctor and learn about vital organs in the human body. These future doctors will learn how to use a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, and reflex hammer. They will practice administering first aid, learn how pharmacists play a role in administering medications, and more!

The Little Medical School brings medicine, science, and the importance of health to children in a fun and entertaining way. Through interactive demonstrations, crafts, and games, kids learn how the body and organs work, how to use doctors’ instruments, and even how to administer first aid. At Little Medical School, students will assume the role of a doctor and learn how the body and organs work, how to use medical instruments, and even tie knots like a real surgeon. Students will use real medical instruments (stethoscope, reflex hammer, and blood pressure cuff) and practice scrubbing and suturing. Section I: Basic anatomy, medical instruments, and prepping for surgery. These future veterinarians will learn how to remove ticks, perform a nose-to-tail exam, understand proper animal nutrition and hydration, suture lacerations, and more! Section III: Cat/Veterinarian Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian and perform a whiskers-to-tail exam on their newly “adopted” plush cat. These future veterinarians will learn about animal body language, maintaining a healthy environment such as proper litterbox placement, creating a cat toy, and designing a vet clinic.

Section IV: Horse / Veterinarian Now students can learn all about horses and their care from the newest Little Medical School Equine program. Students will adopt and name their plush horse and learn the anatomy and maintenance of a horse. They will also learn basic horse nutrition, riding styles, gaits and role- play and basic key responsibilities of an equine veterinarian.

Using interactive demonstrations, crafts, and games, kids learn how to take care of a pet and use instruments that real veterinarians use. Section IV: Horse / Veterinarian Now students can learn all about horses and their care from the newest Little Medical School Equine program. Students will adopt and name their plush horse and learn the anatomy and maintenance of a horse. They will also learn basic horse nutrition, riding styles, gaits and role- play and basic key responsibilities of an equine veterinarian.

These future doctors will learn about prescriptions, explore the brain and spine, and learn about vital bodily functions through hands-on activities and role-play. Students will build a first aid kit and create models of the brain and spine.

Students will role-play the key staff functions performed at a veterinary office and how to keep their “adopted” plush puppy healthy. These future veterinarians will explore digestion, the different parts of the canine eye, animal body language and how X-rays are used to diagnose and treat common illnesses.

Journey to become a marine biologist! This program offers a dynamic, hands-on introduction to marine biology. Participants will conduct ocean experiments, adopt a plush sea turtle, and partake in a collaborative rescue and release of a Leatherback sea turtle. Along their journey, they’ll uncover the mysteries of ocean layers, vertebrates vs. invertebrates, water pressure, and more! They’ll also explore marine mammals, ocean animal babies, and ocean predators. This engaging program culminates in their graduation as Little Marine Biologists, empowering them to protect our oceans!

Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian and perform a whiskers-to-tail exam on their newly “adopted” plush cat. These future veterinarians will learn about animal body language, maintaining a healthy environment such as proper litterbox placement, create a cat toy, and design a vet clinic.

Little Wilderness School brings medicine, science, and the importance of health to children in an entertaining, exciting, and fun way. Our program will teach children about some of the dangers in the wild and how to safely handle a medical situation. For example, students will learn about snake bites, hypothermia, how to tie a tourniquet, splint a broken leg, filter dirty water, 20 uses of a bandana, and how to treat bug bites. Our classes are led by a trained Little Medical School instructor. Each child receives a diploma, disposable lab coat, LMS bandana, thermal blanket and so much more.

STEM SLEUTHS is a 6-hour course that exposes students to the forensic science used to solve a crime.
